What are the best link building practices I should be using to increase quality links for my website?

Good link building tactics haven’t really changed all that much over the years. If you have been using shady practices in the past, STOP! Your website could have a negative SEO affect if you spam your website’s URL on irrelevant pages across the web. It would pay off for you to take the time to disavow within Google Webmaster tools any bad links from the past.

A quality link would be a link that points to your website that actually leads to traffic from the site that is linking to your site. One of the most common practices to link building is finding a similar site to your own and having them write a post about your website. This would drive traffic to your site from visitors that would actually get something of value from your blog.

It will benefit you to think like someone who is in the PR industry. Come up with a list of high quality websites that are similar to yours, and reach out to them about working together to link up sites. You could even collaborate on some sort of a dual site giveaway for loyal readers.

It’s important to note that when it comes down to link building, quality always trumps quantity. One quality link can do more for you than a hundred mediocre links – so spend your time wisely. Think, what are the most influential sites that are relevant to your own that could possibly add more value to your website?
